They want us to upgrade to the newer version, looks like. I am also surprised that we cannot choose the file and import it. May have to manually put in the data; what a waste of time.

In TurboTax Online, how do I transfer my information from my previous year’s tax return?

But, if the PDF is password protected or a scan of a hard copy, you won’t be able to import. If this happens, don’t worry, we’ll guide you through typing in your info. Select the method you used to file last year and follow the screens. The PDF needs to be your 1040, 1040A, or 1040EZ, and the program accepts PDFs from a range of providers. Maybe a lot of entries for complex corps, but for simple S corp, can just printout report on P&L and Balance Sheet and manually enter the numbers.

If you filed your taxes with TurboTax Desktop last year, we can copy your info into this year’s tax return in TurboTax Desktop. We can’t grab info from earlier years or from other tax return types. For example, you can’t copy info from a business return to your personal return. You need to install the trial version of QB Desktop to convert your data from QB Online as a first step.

Next, check your file menu and switch your access to Single-user Mode. Afterward, you have to save your company file on the local computer. Your files might have been stored on a server, making it challenging to locate them.

If you have both a tax data file and a PDF of your return, the tax data file will let us import more tax return data than a PDF of your return. TurboTax Desktop for Windows will transfer last year’s tax data file (.tax2022 file) or PDF from the 2022 version of TurboTax Desktop or Online. It even transfers PDFs created in TaxACT or H&R Block tax prep software. If last year you used other tax software, an accountant, or tax service, you’ll get the option to import a PDF when you’re starting in TurboTax. A PDF imports your personal info and your AGI so you can e-file.

How do I transfer last year’s return into TurboTax Online?

Install QB Enterprise trial edition. This is done by downloading and executing a file named QuickBooksEnterprise24Trial.exe. I was not required to enter any identifying information. A promotional video tried to entertain me but did not delay me. Transfer from a prior year is done at the start of a new return.

If you used TurboTax, H&R Block tax software, or TaxACT to prepare last year’s return, and you have the PDF copy, we’ve got info and instructions on how to transfer your return. No one at Intuit has yet been able to say that feature is availalbe in the 2023 version, as it has been available in previous versions. Each person I have spoken to at Intuit has said the equivalent of, « Oh, I guess so » when I tell them https://turbo-tax.org/ I cannot search for and select our company Quickbooks file. We can help you fix the issue with syncing data from TurboTax to QuickBooks Desktop. I recommend contacting our QuickBooks support team so they can help you find the root cause of this problem and provide a solution. You can cooperate with them about your QuickBooks Desktop file location and ensure your current version is compatible with TurboTax.

Install the trial version of QB Desktop 2023 Enterprise to make sure. As noted above, in past years, we have been able to search for the Quickbooks file we turbotax import last year data wish to import. « Quickbooks Desktop Not Installed. », with the comments, « No Quickbooks Desktop files has been found » and « Continue Without Importing ».
